Why travel to the big shopping centers for your beauty products when you can now stay in town and keep it organic and natural. Oberon is a beauty line of cosmetics, lotions and products geared toward sensitive skin with 100 percent natural ingredients and they just today opened up shop in town today. 

Over 10 years ago, Bridget O’Brian Edwards, a Dior-trained make-up artist, partnered up with Lora Leavenworth in Oregon and opened a cosmetic store next to a cancer treatment facility. But when patients would enter looking for soothing lotions to calm chemo and chemically-treated skin nothing worked quite well enough. This led the team to work tirelessly for three years with a chemist to come up with what is now their natural line of beauty products. With no chemicals or synthetic products and full disclosure (very unusual in the industry), Oberon cosmetics is a truly natural and often 100 percent organic product geared toward everyone, but specifically those with sensitive skin.

Walk inside the new store and instantly a feeling of quiet and serenity surround you with soft yellow, white and grey striped walls, lovely blue bottles of potions and lotions and crisp white packaging, and a wide array of colors to enhance ones natural beauty. 

It is a true oasis inside the shop at 711 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, next to Hub Law Offices. The store is unique in that it is open Mondays and Tuesdays and by appointment only Wednesday through Sunday, but also because Oberon is sold wholesale to salons and spas around the country with Marin County as their new market. And, with no minimum order or shipping charges, it is sure to appeal to many local small businesses.

Bridget is warm and welcoming with a wealth of knowledge when it comes to her products and what the skin needs. I am not one for lotions and potions, but the dollops she shared were soothing, soft and fragrance-free. There are many in stock colors to choose from when it comes to makeup, but a personalized blend can also be made up on the spot for the absolutely perfect match for each individual. Consider a winter base and another for summer or that special vacation in the sun.

Bridget offers private make-up lessons for first time customers for $20, which includes 20% off any purchases. The goal is to also offer full body spray tans for $40 (for a limited time), along with teeth whitening, by early November, along with an organic line of fragrances around Thanksgiving. Oberon also sells a completely chemical free line of Tizo sunscreen in various levels of protection and a men’s line of skin products.

Wahoo for Wine

, at 500 San Anselmo Ave., is soon to fly away for good and it looks like it will be replaced by a wine bar and eatery, which this writer believes will be just great. 

Clen Glass, a delightful Scotsman, has applied for a liquor license and is working closely with the planning commission to open up La Loggia. Glass is a community-focused gentleman who helped create many of the delightful scarecrows that are hung on every lamppost throughout San Anselmo and his frequent walks through downtown, with his gentle black lab greeting young and old alike, ensure that any place he owns will be a resounding success. We wish him the best of luck in his venture forward and look forward to another great place to wine and dine in San Anselmo.
