Get Your Kicks on Greenfield Avenue
USSD kick-a-thon, pumpkin season and wi-fi rescue. But please don't drive with a dog on your lap!
Kicking For a Cause
Get your kicks at this Saturday’s United Studios of Self Defense’s Grand Opening party. They will be doing a kick-a-thon with the proceeds going to St. Jude Hospital. To date, USSD has raised over $8500 for St. Jude; the goal this year is another $5000.
The kick-a-thon starts at 10 a.m. People are encouraged to come and kick for an hour and donate based on the amount of kicks they can do or just a flat donation is great too. They will also be having a bounce house for the kids, a barbecue around the noon hour and they will be offering great deals on karate programs and doing little giveaways. Located at their new location (they recently moved from Red Hill Shopping Center) at 42 Greenfield in San Anselmo, and in case you need it their phone number is 485-1316.
So Glad
The rains were held at bay for the Country Fair Day parade, hooray! What a great showing of our wonderful San Anselmo businesses, organizations, politicians and community members. I simply loved how happy all the kids looked from the Boy Scouts to the Brownies, the pre-schoolers to the Drake Pirates. Plus, who doesn’t love when the Wells Fargo Wagon comes to town? Those horses are truly incredible animals.
More Dangerous Than a Cell Phone
I’ve been seeing more and more folks driving with small dogs in their laps. Why is there not a law against this? One man could barely see over his steering wheel he was leaning so far back to make room for the dog. Really folks, this is just plain foolish, dangerous and wrong, please consider eliminating this habit and keeping your dog safe, yourself safe, and yes, everyone around you safe. Leave your animal at home or in the back of the automobile. Heck, even the front passenger seat is better than a drivers lap.
What to Do? What to Do?
Our wireless internet connection went out last night after I moved a few things around and hooked things up in the wrong outlets and we were lost, completely lost. Thankfully we have a great, though even more thankfully not regular, relationship with our “Computer Guy.” He graciously called me back right away and coached me over two phone calls on how to fix it free of charge. Thank you, Tom. If you need or would like his number please let me know, I would happily pass it along.
'Tis the Season
Pumpkin season that is, though I have heard that some retailers are dressing their shops up for Christmas already which is just sick and wrong. But this is definitely the pumpkin season and they are popping up at all the grocery stores and open fields further from town, too. Does anyone have a good pumpkin pie recipe? Doesn’t that sound yummy right now?
