Patch's Guide to Go Back to School

School starts in two short weeks. Are you ready?

With Ross Valley Schools (Wade Thomas, BrooksideManor, and White Hill) starting on Aug. 22 and Drake High School beginning classes on Aug. 17, parents are starting to get ready for another school year to start.

Drake parents can get all their Back to School information by clicking here. School for the high school starts on Aug. 17, but school picture day is Aug. 16 and athletic physicals (required for all students participating in school sports) can be completed either by a family doctor or at Drake on Aug. 13. Back to School Night for parents to walk through their kid's schedule is Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

And, Drake parents, don't forget those pesky summer assignments -- all available right here, in case your student "forgot."

The Ross Valley elementary schools start Aug. 22 -- full school year calendar here.

Measure A construction is underway at the schools, check back for a full update. And a new school boundary plan was rolled out at the beginning of the summer.

With all the buzz as kids get ready to head back to the classroom, the question for local parents has to be 'when will the back-to-school shopping ever be over?'

While we can't help you shop – not that I don't love a good spree – we can suggest some local places that can make the exhausting experience a little more enjoyable.

Good luck!
