Calling All Old Dudes
Fairfax Health Club, located at 713 Center Boulevard in the Fair-Anselm plaza, is gearing up to start “Boot Camp for Old Dudes”. Sore joints? Bad knees? Have no fear, the owner will guide you along in a 45-minute cardio and strength training regime to get your body moving and the blood flowing. It all begins on January 16 at 6 a.m. so tighten up those laces and set your alarm if this sounds like the work out for you.
Just Opened
From Smith Anderson North, the great framing shop located on Greenfield Avenue in San Anselmo, comes “The Lab”, located at their 2240A Fourth Street location in San Rafael (just over the border not far from United Market). It opened just after the New Year and offers a “unique range of traditional and contemporary fine art printing services including Archival Digital Printing, Scanning, Custom Black and White Gelatin Silver Printing, Photogravure, and Master Classes and Workshops.” We wish them the very best with this new venture and if you’d like any more information please contact them at lab@smithandersennorth.com or call (415) 912-7632.
Singing in the Streets
The holidays are officially over for most of us but if you were in town in the middle of the day on Friday last week you would have heard the caroling voices of the leaders and members of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church (located at 102 Ross Avenue in San Anselmo) walking up and down San Anselmo Avenue singing. It was simply lovely and I learned that it was in celebration of the Epiphany, the baptism of Christ. The group filled up a town block with young and old alike and the sun shined down on the happy parade.
Rumors are Flying
“They are going to tear down the buildings and put in a park.” “No, I heard there will be a thrift store.” “It might become a pot dispensary.” “It is definitely going to be a sport shop.” “What we really need is live theater.” “A bar.” “A hardware store.” "More antiques." The four big vacancies on San Anselmo Avenue, two next to Town Hall and the other two further down on the corner of Tamalpais Avenue are getting a lot of attention in whispers between community members. I’ll be looking into it all next week and promise to report back when I know more.
