The Easter Bunny Comes in Style
Celebrating the holiday in Memorial Park.
Saturday at Memorial Park was magical -- literally. The town sponsored its annual Easter egg hunt and it wasn’t just the little ones who had a blast!
The event was well-organized, friendly and, most of all, fun for all ages.
Trust me, I’m not an Easter egg hunt type of guy and was less than excited to be surrounded by hundreds of screaming, sugar-high kids. But once there (and with a couple deep breaths) I had a blast.
There was a jump tent, soccer nets, and a very good magic show -- all free for local families. What a wonderful, kid-friendly town we live in. I have to say the only stress of the day was created by the crazy competitive parents, myself included.
It's funny it was a bit stressful, wanting to make sure my two little girls survived the event.
The strong survive, dog-eat-dog world we live in shows its self even at a children’s Easter egg hunt. No parents want their children to end up with an empty basket. Who knows what type of long-term psychological damage could be caused. I’m sure you have heard of the empty basket syndrome? Don’t kid yourself; its real.
The egg hunt was broken down into three groups: kids three and under, four to five-years-old and the six and seven-year-olds, which made the event fair for the little ones. I still want to see some id on a couple kids in the four to five grouping, but I'll let that go. Eventually.
After the egg hunt, the town set up a kid-friendly magic show. Any show that can keep my three-year-old's (Coda) attention for more than a couple minutes has accomplished something.
Thank you San Anselmo, you truly made this an Easter to remember and reminded me how lucky I am to be living in such a wonderful community!
