Video of New Manor Building Going Up

New modular went up this week.

With Measure A bond construction to address overcrowding in the Ross Valley School District finally getting underway, Manor was the first to break ground this week.

The above time-lapsed video shows the new modular classroom being installed at Manor School on Wednesday morning.

The modular is one of three classrooms being added to Manor, but it was approved to go in earlier than originally scheduled because enrollment exceeded expectations this year. The district also opted to go with the modular building instead of custom-built in order to get it in faster. It should be in use after the President's Day holiday week.

Watch of tour of the Manor facilities.

The rest of the construction at the elementary schools will come second after work at the middle school, where the majority of the $50 million will be spent -- approximately $41 million from the bond approved in November 2010 and, hopefully, $9 million in matching state funds. It was determined the middle school needed the most work because of deteriorating facilities and the increasing enrollment. (See a tour of White Hill, pointing out the problems with the facilities.)

Work will begin at White Hill over the summer and be complete by August 2013. The school district board viewed a 3D model of the plans for White Hill on Tuesday -- watch the 3D video to get an idea of what the new school will look like.

What do you think of the new work?
