A table of four fit women, who were having a beverage at the Fairfax Coffee Roastery and bite after the bike ride they call “Double Dam” (Fairfax to Alpine Dam, and back…twice), answered the question of the day: What do you order from the barista?

Linda Klein from Forest Knolls said, “My favorite is always straight French roast coffee. There is a new study out that coffee could ward off Alzheimer’s and Deepak Chopra is talking about it too.”

Well known Fairfax healer Christine Dillon, (Ross Valley Chiropractic) always orders lattes.  “I was just in Spain and fell in love with coffee 'con leche,' which is never offered ‘to go,’ never comes in a paper cup, and is a tiny, but perfect, portion,” she said.

Chai is the preferred drink of Susan Becker from Corte Madera.

Monique Tse, from Fairfax, the most interesting answers, “Carrot juice and chocolate cake.”

When I'm in town, it's always the Mexican mocha at the Coffee Roasters. However, my all-time favorite is something I found at school in British Columbia: the polar bear. It's a very rich hot chocolate made with steamed Irish cream. I suppose you could make it as a mocha, too, but there's nothing better on a cold and wet BC day than a polar bear.
