The 5th Annual Gift of Love is a unique partnership between 15 Marin County churches and four agencies in great need of volunteer work at parks, on trails, and in Marin County's acres of open space.  

Saturday, Feb. 11 begins with a worship concert at Marin Covenant Church in San Rafael, then volunteers head out to eradicate invasive plant species, restore trails, plant native species, pick up litter, spread mulch, and beautify public spaces across Marin County.  

Bald Hill in San Anselmo and Jolly Hill in Fairfax are just two of ten sites being served by Gift of Love volunteers this year.

After the work is complete, volunteers are rewarded with a bbq lunch at Civic Center Park, prepared, once again, by volunteers!  

Michael Ardito, a member of the Fairfax Open Space Committee, and site manager for Jolly Hill, says, "We have several open space sites in Fairfax that annually need invasive broom pulled. It appears to be a good match to garner community help in getting some of this overwhelming task done. It is hoped this new partnership will continue and grow annually in the future.”  

So if you are hiking around Marin County on Saturday and run into a group of folks pulling invasive broom and smiling at the same time, stop and say hello and thanks!
