 A performance perfect for the whole family! Chinyakare Ensemble presents an electrifying performance of the traditional dance, music and culture of Zimbabwe and Southern Africa. The music, played on mbira, ngoma, marimbas and chipendani, blends virtuoso performances with the sounds of African tribal culture. Chinyakare provides students with a glimpse of the beauty, excitement and spirit of traditional African dance and song. Julia Tsitsi Chigamga, Artistic Director, was born in Zimbabwe in the Shona tribe. She grew up in a family of great dancers and musicians in Zimbabwe and, with Chinyakare, she continues to teach and perform in her familiy’s ancient traditions.
