Get Ready, a disaster survival program for the residents of San Anselmo, Fairfax and Sleepy Hollow, wants you to be prepared to protect yourself, your friends and your family in the event of an emergency. For this reason their offering free Get Ready classes at your house! Get Ready will partner with you to put together a class at your home or in your neighborhood. This is a great way to learn about disaster preparedness while gathering for an afternoon BBQ or an evening of getting to know your neighbors. More About Ross Valley Fire Department
The Ross Valley Fire Department serves San Anselmo, Fairfax and Sleepy Hollow, with each of those areas having its own station. The towns' fire departments were consolidated in 1982. The board of the fire district meets on the second Thursday of the month, rotating between Fairfax and San Anselmo. The district's headquarters in San Anselmo were constructed and opened in the fall of 2009. Roger Meagor serves as fire chief, overseeing 25 full-time firefighters and 15 volunteer firefighters. The Ross Valley Fire Department also sends engines and firefighters to emergencies throughout the state.
