The popular Parenting Apart Classes for divorced or separated couples provided by Family Service Agency of Marin will start a new session Wednesday, June 13. The class will meet weekly for six sessions. Classes are offered during the day from 11 - 12:30 and in the evening from 6 to 7:30 for a sliding-scale fee that ranges between $15 and $40. Free childcare is available for the evening classes.
Research has shown that the level of conflict between separated or divorced parents directly affects children’s development and mental health. Parenting Apart helps separated or divorced parents learn skills that help their children positively manage the challenges and conflicts of a changing family. Only one parent attends any given series and it isn't necessary for the other parent to participate at another time, although both parents are encouraged to participate at some point.
