Marin County Singer, Actor, and Writer Noah Griffin is pleased to announce the establishment of The Cole Porter Society, a non-profit organization that aims to preserve the musical legacy of Cole Porter by working with music departments in schools and universities to introduce students to the composer and the importance of his music to the shaping and understanding of American culture. A concert celebrating the new non-profit, An Evening of Cole Porter, will take place on Friday, February 28 at 8pm at the Barn Theater, 30 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Ross, CA 94957. Ticket prices for this inaugural benefit concert are $50 general admission ($25 of which is tax-deductible) and can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets www.brownpapertickets.com/event/567203 . “I want students to be able to access an emotional vocabulary achievable through song by appreciating Cole Porter’s music. He could write with wit, sophistication, longing and unabashed passion. It would be great if they could be exposed to that level of communication. I want to plant the seed, even though the time of harvest may be in the future as they age.”
Cole Porter was an American composer and songwriter best known for his work, writing songs for the Broadway musical stage. Unlike many Broadway composers, Porter wrote the lyrics as well as the music for his songs. In 1949 he won a Tony award for his most successful musical, Kiss Me, Kate. Porter's other musicals include Fifty Million Frenchmen, DuBarry Was a Lady, Anything Goes, Can-Can and Silk Stockings. Some of his hit songs include "Night and Day", "I Get a Kick Out of You", and "I've Got You Under My Skin”. He also composed scores for films from the 1936 to 1957 before passing away in 1964.

ABOUT NOAH:
Noah Griffin began his musical career with the San Francisco Boy’s Chorus at the age of 7 soloing in La Boheme and sharing the stage with Nat Cole, Leontyne Price and Paul Robeson. He auditioned at the hungry i, sang at the Purple Onion and while in college toured with the famed Jubilee Singers and the Fisk University Choir singing with the Nashville Symphony and the Philadelphia Philharmonic. As a soloist with the Harvard University Choir, he auditioned for and sang with Duke Ellington. He wrote the song first performed for the Giants to open the then Pac-Bell Park. He has performed at jazz venues from San Francisco, to Las Vegas and New York and most recently narrated a Schwantner piece with the Marin Symphony.
