The Bay Area’s 18th Annual National Bike to Work Day is Thursday, May 10, with events and promotion by the Marin County Bicycle Coalition. They want to make sure that those who haven't yet taken to the "power of the pedal" have plenty of reasons to do so.
To encourage participation in the promotion, there are 17 "Energizer Stations" for Bike to Work Day, open from 6:30 to 9:30 in the morning, with volunteers setting up along much-used bike commute routes to dole out free not just encouragement but snacks and giveaways.
Leave for work a little early to have time to pick up a free "goodie gag" full of great coupons, bicycle information and tasty snacks, all stuffed in a commemorative musette bag.
In Fairfax, bicyclists can get the goodies at 737 Center St., . In San Anselmo, at 19 San Anselmo Ave., and are energizer stations; in Ross, Breaking Away bicycles at 7 Ross Center is ready for your arrival. (See the map of all 17 station with this article.)
The coalition is also participating in the Team Bike Challenge, in which cyclist teams log trips and miles as part of a competition to see who can rack up the most cycling miles throughout May, National Bike Month. For more info on National Bike Month, click here.
