San Rafael's Whistlestop Adds Two New Board Members

The Marin nonprofit taps two women with experience managing nonprofits.

A Marin County nonprofit on Tuesday announced leadership changes.

Etta Allen of and Nancy Rhine were named to the 12-member Board of Directors of Whistlestop, a group that provides services to the elderly and disabled that promotes independence.

Allen was the first woman president of Marin Buildings Exchange, the first woman contractor on the executive committee of California Association of Builders Exchanges.

She served nine years as director of Marin Builders Exchange.

“I feel I am moving from one great organization to another,” Allen said in a prepared statement.

Rhine is a licensed marriage and family therapist who focuses on older people.

She has served Marin County residents for the past decade in a variety of capacities, including as a psychotherapist, geriatric care manager, support group facilitator, educator, hospice care manager, family consultant and patient advocate.

Rhine is a former co-facilitator for Whistlestop’s free, weekly support group, “Senior’s Circle”.

“As a 30 year resident of Marin County, I’ve long respected Whistlestop’s contributions to our citizens,” Rhine said in a prepared statement.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to serve on the Board during this time of Whistlestop’s significant expansion.”
