Wednesday, Dec. 11

The frantic pursuit of a Novato bank robbery suspect ended with the suspect being shot just outside San Rafael’s Northgate Mall. The suspect was identified on Friday as Christopher Jay Wootton, 60 of Larkspur.

NBC news on Thursday night confirmed the suspect is the “Cotton Ball Bandit,” citing unnamed law enforcement sources.

 

Thursday, Dec. 12

A minivan plowed into the side of a San Rafael elementary school causing a gas leak and power outage that triggered a shutdown of Laura Dell Elementary School on Friday.

 

Friday, Dec. 13

Police in San Rafael are investigating a late Friday morning shooting in the Canal neighborhood. The 21-year-old victim suffered non-life threatening injuries in an attack on the 400 block of Bahia Lane that was reported at 11:29 a.m.
