Week in Review: Smoking Ban in San Rafael; Six Arrested in Marin Narc Bust

Monday, Nov. 4

A motorist was killed when a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Vallejo went off a cliff on state Highway 1 south of Stinson Beach on Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man was identified as 26-year-old Joshua Glen Stewart of Arbuckle and Vallejo.

Tuesday, Nov. 5

A school bus carrying students caught fire on southbound U.S. Highway 101 near Sausalito on Tuesday morning according to the California Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday,  Nov. 6

The outcome of a narrow race for the second open seat on the council between Maribeth Bushey Lang and Greg Brockbank won’t be known until later this week at the earliest. The latest returns in Tuesday’s race had Lang leading Brockbank 24.8 to 23.2 percent.

 

Thursday, Nov. 7

A law banning smoking in certain residences and open spaces approved unanimously by the City Council last year year goes into effect this week. Marin County's toughest anti-smoking law prohibits lighting up in all duplex and multi-family residential units that share a common wall.

 

Friday, Nov. 8

An operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies including the San Rafael Police Department led to six arrests on Friday morning, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.
