Sunday Staples

Lopin goes to church on Sunday mornings and sometimes goes to the San Rafael Civic Center Farmers’ Market after. Then the rest of the day could be spent running errands and playing catch up on work or council-related items, she said.

Walking the Dogs

Lopin’s family (her and her husband, Chris, have two children – one at CSU Chico and the other at Drake) have two dogs that are breeders for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Lopin regularly walks the pups on the weekend, and throughout the week (one is retired and doesn’t have puppies anymore). They’ve had five sets of puppies since they started caring for the breeders. They used to care for the puppies themselves at home, Lopin said, but now the pregnant dogs are whisked away to Guide Dogs for the Blind for the time while the pups are born and young.
