Weekend Routine: Jeff Kroot Hikes Around Bon Tempe

San Anselmo's longtime councilman shares his weekend traditions with Patch readers.

San Anselmo Councilman Jeff Kroot was elected to the council in November 2009, but the former mayor has already served three terms on the council from 1993 to 2005 (he was mayor from 1996 to 1997 and 2000 to 2001). The local architect has also served on the San Anselmo Planning Commission from 1984 to 1993 and the town’s historical commission from 2006 to 2010. His architecture office is in downtown San Anselmo, at 633 San Anselmo Ave.

Long Sunday hike

Every Sunday Kroot goes for a two to three-hour hike, often around or near Bon Tempe Lake. Sometimes he hikes with friends and other times he’s accompanied by his wife, Tina. They may get a bite to eat afterward in Fairfax, especially if they hike near Deer Park.

Favorite local eateries

Since Kroot’s office is located in downtown San Anselmo, he eats out most often during lunch on the weekdays. But during the weekend, he may also stop by some of his favorite local eateries, including , , , and two others -- and , where he hand a hand in remodels and upgrades, although he mostly does architectural work for new homes in Marin.

Reading and watching sports

Other weekend favorites for Kroot? He may sit back and read a book, or spend some time watching a Giants or 49ers game.

Is anybody else here getting multiple e-mail notifications of new comments by Jo Tog, and thenRead More clicking the link, only to find that they are actually old comments from Jo Tog, but with today's date on them? What's the deal? Did all his comments get flagged and deleted, and now he's re-posting them? Most curious.

Jo Trog, we live in a Corporatocracy, not a republic. We abdicated the Republic after 9/11, if notRead More before. Know the difference.

Banning the sale in a free market economy is too strong. I believe people should be able to chooseRead More so long as the product is labeled correctly, and even placed in a section with a big sign that says "GM Food products". Would I buy it if I pass the section at the grocery store: NO.
