Nicasio Valley Farms Pumpkin Patch: Pick your pumpkin off the actual vine in Nicasio -- the only place you can do that in Marin County. There are also hay rides, bounce houses, farm animals, and music. This weekend, Manzanita Moon performs Saturday and Sunday and Tim Cain performs on Sunday.

Open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Oct. 31; 5300 Nicasio Valley Road, Nicasio

In San Rafael:

: Bounce houses, hay pile, face painting and snack area at the school from boys. Raises money for Timothy Murphy School for special needs kids.

Open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Oct. 30.

Locally

: A smaller patch in the parking lot at Bon Air Shopping Center, bounce houses make for a fun stop for the kids -- who don't really need all that fancy stuff anyway. And this Saturday will be the annual Halloween bash -- with costumes for kids, trick-or-treating around the center and carnival games from noon to 4 p.m.

Petaluma Pumpkin Patch: And an amazing corn maze! The popular pumpkin patch voted Best Pumpkin Patch by Marin Mommies in 2010 boasts a corn maze, huge straw mountain, petting zoo and pony rides. This weekend also features a 4H bake sale and face-painting.

Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday until Nov. 1. On Stony Point Road, just of Highway 101.

Peterson's Farm: Also in Petaluma, offers a quieter pumpkin picking experience with a variety of farm foods available.

Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; 636 Gossage Ave., Petaluma.
