A Midsummer Night's Dream

This Midsummer Night's Dream is set in 1930's Hollywood when studio executives ruled and fledgling actors dreamt big. Director Julianna Rees’ creative vision recasts the Athenian aristocracy as studio execs and pits them against stagehands (mechanicals). The iconic Hollywood sign, a place of beautiful promise and threatening destruction, is the fairies' playground. A perfect backdrop for Shakespeare’s classic romance. This Stage Academy Marin production features talented high school actors from all ends of Marin County, including Ali MacMillan, a Kentfield resident portraying Starveling and Matthew Solomon from Ross as Nick Bottom.

Ali attends Redwood High School and has been on stage in numerous musicals, but this is her first Shakespeare production. She is very excited to extend her acting repertoire with this play.

Matthew graduated from The Branson School in June and will attend USC to study acting this fall. Like Ali, this is Matthew’s first acting experience with the Bard. He is having a blast in the role of Nick Bottom, the “funny guy”.local teens from its Youth Theater program.
