Dollars for Daraja: A Night of Music will be a night of dining, dancing and fun. Join us on March 6th at George's Nightclub in downtown San Rafael.
Performances by The Jack Straws Blues Band, The Breaks, Ellie Cope, Maia Sinaiko, Melanie Voorsanger and Matt Herrero, students from Marin Academy, Drake and Redwood! This is an event for the whole family! (Food available for purchase at George's.)
The benefit is being put on by the Drake Daraja Club, and all proceeds from this show will go straight to Daraja Academy for Girls in Kenya. Daraja Academy is a boarding secondary school for Kenyan girls with top academic scores and exceptional leadership skills but no means to continue their education. The academy provides shelter, food, healthcare and counseling services which allows students to focus on their academic and personal potential, without being hindered by the everyday barriers of poverty.
In Swahili Daraja means “bridge” which is what the academy provides these girls with: a bridge from who the girls are now to who they have the potential to become.
