Eileen Ormiston’s watercolors on display from April 2-June 2

San Anselmo, CA.-March 22, 2011- Eileen Ormiston moved to Marin from her native Scotland 37 years ago and started painting small personal Marin landscapes not long after that. Her work eventually evolved to larger canvas as she started to explore her love for flowers, especially roses.  While babysitting her grandchild one year, Eileen discovered how wonderful watercolor played into the aesthetics of painting cupcakes.  Says Eileen, "I love the way the colors mix together on the watercolor paper, and how it brings out an important aspect of design, color and pattern.”

A turning point for Eileen came a few years ago was when a friend invited her to visit a local Koi farm.  She spent a few months just watching how they moved in the water and how their wonderful coloring blended in with their environment. It wasn’t long till she had completed a rather large series of the fish in their ponds which has proven to be very successful.
