Get Out: Patch's Weekend Planner for June 24-26

Are you looking for something nearby to do this summer weekend? Check out some of the things on the San Anselmo-Fairfax Calendar and see if there's something for you.

Friday and Saturday :

Two great nights of free films! Friday night’s film “The Breakfast Club,” is about five students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their high school library and by the end of the day, find their friendships bonded. “National Velvet” is the story of a 14-year-old girl named Velvet Brown, who rides her horse to victory in the Grand National steeplechase and the ability of ordinary people to accomplish great things. Film Night in the Park celebrates its 20th anniversary continuing its summertime tradition of presenting classic, cult favorites and family movies in Fairfax and other community parks in Marin.

If you go: The films are free but donations are appreciated. Arrive by 8 p.m., films begin at dusk; don’t forget your blankets, low chairs and snacks. The movies are being shown at Central Field, Broadway Blvd. & Bank St., in Fairfax.

The Mexican Arts Festival on Saturday will celebrate the successful launch of the Revivir la Cultura program. With the leadership of program participants, the San Geronimo Valley Community Center Courtyard will host a warm and family-friendly, bilingual and hands on celebration of Mexican culture to share these engaging traditions, sounds and flavors with Marin’s wider community. The event will be free with low-cost activities, stellar preformances and authentic food including Mole and kid-friendly quesadillas.

Join Marin Organic for a dazzling summer night under the stars and towering redwoods of . Chef Jeremy Goldfarb of and The Butchers Guild are collaborating to create a scrumptious menu showcasing Red Hill Farms lamb and Devil's Gulch Ranch pork along with seasonal, local side dishes from recipe contest winners.
