Woody Allen and Stars Spotted in Belvedere

Woody Allen, Cate Blanchett and other stars were spotted while shooting their new movie.

Legendary movie director Woody Allen and celebrities Cate Blanchett and Louis C.K. were spotted in Belvedere Monday morning filming their latest movie.

Allen is in the Bay Area directing a romantic comedy film about a woman trying to make it on a budget when she moves to San Francisco after her posh New York City lifestyle comes crashing down, according to the San Francisco Film Commission.

The untitled film by the actor/director behind the movies Annie Hall and Midnight in Paris started shooting Friday in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood. Allen will be filming around the Bay Area, including in Marin, until the end of the month, a film commissioner said.

Monday's shoot took place at a Belvedere home on Britton Avenue. , the crews were filming a daytime party scene. The call was looking for clean cut, sophisticated, conservative-looking Marin types in their 30s to 40s to cast as extras.

The film crew and cast are also rumored to include Alec Baldwin and Peter Sarsgaard. It will be set in the Mission, the avenues in the western end of San Francisco, the Marina District and parts of Marin County, according to the commission.

Some Bay Area actors are supposed to be included in the project, which will also include filming shoots in New York City.

The film commission said the movie is about a wealthy woman who finds herself broke and in San Francisco, living with her sister and downsizing her life.

She eventually meets a man in the Bay Area who could solve her financial problems, but she first needs to discover who she is and, more importantly, accept San Francisco as her home.

The film, produced by Perdido Productions based in New York, is expected to be released by the end of 2013.

Maybe this was breaking news to warn me to hide my young daughter?

Surely this is not "breaking news." Can Patch at least try to avoid the cable network syndrome of entertainment reporting as vital to our community's well-being? It is not. When I got the "breaking news" alert I thought we had a real event such as a widllfire fire or major traffic accident on the 101. I was more than a little ticked off to discover this was no more than celebrity rubbernecking. Let's get a grip on the real news of this community of which there is plenty.

Although it's not really breaking news, it's fun and light, and some of us enjoy sharing this kind of news about Marin. Good to know we live in a place where a rich guy from Belvedere might be able to save the world someday. I look forward to that day myself.

Seriously? Interesting maybe, breaking... not so much.
