Business & Tech

A Great Acting Opportunity and Businesses Almost Done

A new studio that offers training in looping is open in Fairfax by local resident and talented actress Holly Dorff.

Calling All Actors

Young and old actors and actresses now have an incredible opportunity to get a leg up in the world of film right here in Fairfax thanks to the incredibly talented local actress, Holly Dorff, who has opened up Studio 2412. Holly has been in the acting business since she was very young with TV shows like Magnum P.I. and Knots Landing. She's also worked on over 500 other shows and films with what is known in the film industry as ADR or Looping. For those of us not in the industry, ADR is Automated Dialog Replacement -- the process of an actor re-recording lines spoken during filming in order to improve audio quality or reflect dialog changes.

Holly opened Studio 2412 earlier this month and offers something for everyone, whether they are just getting started in the field of acting or want to make continued improvements. There are kids classes on looping, opportunities to get headshots and work on a professional resume, workshops on jumpstarting a career, along with improving and fun classes where adults can learn how to create characters in an instant.

Holly, who has children in the , will also be offering classes for kids over Ski Week and Spring Break and all throughout next summer.

She has some amazing connections; she works closely with Skywalker Sound and in Los Angeles with a well-trained looping group that she has developed over the years. We are so lucky to have her talents and skills as a teacher and hope that many will be able to take advantage of her incredible new studio and looping lessons.

Almost Happening

A lot is happening with new businesses in town, but the finishing touches are still being, well, finished before they can open up officially.

The new bakery in San Anselmo is so close I can smell the fresh-baked goods in my impatient mind. And the new building is getting stucco put on its exterior, which can only mean that things are getting close to finishing up for the big move. So, a couple of almost's out there, but just not quites.

Also  is putting up walls for the sixth theater, but the new box office already looks just great with a new screen showing all that is playing and when.
