New Indian Restaurant to Open in Fair-Anselm

And think local when you're shopping.

This Is Going To Be Good

Not only is due to open in mid-February now (the parking lot is, as I type, getting gussied up with plants and lighting), but I just learned that a great new restaurant will be opening right across the street in the Fair-Anselm Plaza.

Avatars Restaurant has already begun work on the space that housed the Chinese restaurant Saigon Village and though we don’t know exactly when they’ll be opening up, we do know that it will be a fantastic fit for this spot. A handful of Avatars are scattered throughout the North Bay Area with locations in Sausalito (the original that opened in 1989), Mill Valley, Larkspur and Petaluma. A simple way to describe the cuisine is Punjabi Burritos -- and back in the beginning another journalist coined the phrase “ethnic confusion” and that's stuck.

Avatar Ubhi envisioned the food and he and his family are continuing the wonderful tradition and expanding to our advantage. They pride themselves on creating a true and comfortable setting and welcoming atmosphere, but don’t stop there.

“Our cuisine is extremely flexible; flexible to your tastes, your dietary needs and to your creativity.” Whether you’re vegan, carb-free, a meat lover or just a food lover, this will surely temp and treat you all to something wonderful and their menu tells the tale. “Perhaps our most popular dishes are the Punjabi Enchiladas, a concept that was created right here in the kitchen of Avatar’s. What business does Indian food have meddling with traditional Hispanic fare? Find out for yourself.”

I, for one, can’t wait.

Open House

in Fairfax is having an Open House Sunday, Feb. 5 to share what they are all about in the world of education. Starting with Pre-K programs going all the way up to 8th-grade, St. Rita’s has a lot to offer and this is your opportunity to see what it’s all about.

Price Reduced

Now’s your chance to jump on a great deal to lease out a huge space in the center of everything at 610 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., where the Antique Pavilion recently departed. The building has been vacant for a while now -- well, more like long enough for the owners to reduce the lease price.

Keep It Close to Home

Think Global, Shop Local is a great saying and that couldn’t be truer in today’s times. A friend on Facebook posted this quote and I wanted to share: ‎"When you buy from a small mom business, you are not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a mom put food on the table, a dad pay a mortgage, or a student to pay for college. Our customers are our shareholders-and they are the ones we strive to make happy. Thank you for supporting small businesses!"

If you are tempted to get into your car and head to the mall any time soon please take a moment to consider if you could get the same product or something even better closer to home. Save money on gas, save time and save yourself from the hassle of the highway.
