Happy Hour and Wine Bar Celebrates Anniversary

Special kind of happy hour, 123 Bolinas celebrates with week of specials, and Terrapin Crossroads moves forward with permit process.

123 Celebrates One Year

s, the wonderful wine bar that also serves some amazing food to pair with the great wines, has a lot to celebrate. They opened their doors a year ago this week and Fairfax hasn't been the same since. A wonderful place to gather, gab, gaze and, of course, drink, it is packed on a regular basis -- as well it should be.

Rather than celebrate for a day, 123 Bolinas is making the party last a whole week, which means there will be even more reasons to stop by. Tuesday Aug. 2 is Wine & Art, Wednesday there will be Oysters,"Cake and Bubbles on Thursday the 4th, and my favorite is on Aug. 5, 6, and 7: Surprises & Adventures. Be sure to celebrate with co-founders Dominic Phillips, James Gregory, Jacquelyn Mahaney, and Jeff Mahaney. Congratulations!

Closer Than We Thought

The Country Store closed its doors and brought a lot of their goods to Petaluma, but they also kept it local and have a spot in just three doors up at 328 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. So glad to know that Nancy's beautiful pine furnature, lovely quilts and American antiques are a little closer to home.

My Kind of Happy Hour

The in-between meal times at restaurants can be slow and quiet, but not with what has going on: a happy hour for everyone. Between 3 and 5 p.m., stop in for a milk shake and fries for only $7. We've been waiting for the right moment, but, really, when is it not the right moment for a milk shake and fries!

Closer to Terapin Crossroads

Looks like a use permit will be filed in Fairfax today for on the anniversary of Jerry Garcia's passing (do you remember where you were when you heard the news?). This is just the very beginning of the process for the location that now holds an old automotive building next to where stands now on the 2000 block of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Traffic, parking, neighbors, planning commissions, and all the red tape that goes with it will have to happen first before a deal is made, but the moves are being made.

Good luck!
