Java Hut Remodel, Recommended Film Night Eats and Light 33

This week's Scoop includes a suggested menu for film night in the park, which begins on Friday.

Major Improvements Planned for Java Hut

The coffee is staying the same, but the look for is about to change.

Owner Ric Carson confirmed with the Scoop that the popular drive-through will be undergoing a remodel.

"We have been in our location since 1994, which is a modified Photo Mat booth with no water or sewer," Carson said.

Carson recently renewed his lease, which inspired him to undertake some expansion efforts for Java Hut. The changes include indoor and outdoor seating, restrooms and additional menu items. Also included in the plans is a dedicated bike parking area.

And what about new goodies?

"Our expanded menu will include breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, blended drinks and organic ice cream," Carson said.

Sounds like changes everyone's stomachs will approve.

Film Night in the Park Suggested Menus

On Friday, June 8, will kickoff its 2012 season with a screening of Rio in Fairfax. Many of the films shown throughout the summer will screen in San Anselmo's Creekside Park, which provides patrons a great opportunity to cull together a meal from surrounding eateries. The Scoop has taken the liberty of making a list of recommended food choices for a summer night at the movies.

(Open until 9 p.m. Fri. and Sat.)

Hard to go wrong with a cheeseburger and fries. Add a milkshake to cool off on those warm August evenings.

Gelato (Call 455-8833 for hours)

If a milkshake won't quite pacify your sweet tooth, try a Coppa Classica at Gelato. The Classica features your choice of any two flavors, hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts and a wafer cookie on top. Definitely a treat you can split!

(Open until 9:30 p.m. Fri. and Sat.)

While not everything on the menu will be easy to manage in the dark on a blanket, a quesadilla or burrito will fill you up and stay in your hands. Don't forget a side of salsa and a watermelon fresca to complete the meal.

(Open until 7 p.m. Fri. and Sat)
or  (Call 785-8077 for hours)

Sometimes a little popcorn is plenty, but you don't want to risk falling asleep before Harry battles Voldemort. That's why you can stop by either Marin Roasters or The Roastery and grab yourself some coffee or a mocha to keep you going until the final credits roll.

(Open until 7 p.m. Fri, 6 p.m. Sat)

You can never go wrong with a Chinese Chicken Salad to go. Never.

Look for a Fairfax menu in a future installment of The Scoop!

What Comes After Lococo's?

Apparently a place called Light 33, Inc. That's the name attached to the liquor license application in the window. Check back for the next Scoop column, when we'll attempt to learn all the details about San Anselmo's newest restaraunt.

Is anybody else here getting multiple e-mail notifications of new comments by Jo Tog, and thenRead More clicking the link, only to find that they are actually old comments from Jo Tog, but with today's date on them? What's the deal? Did all his comments get flagged and deleted, and now he's re-posting them? Most curious.

Jo Trog, we live in a Corporatocracy, not a republic. We abdicated the Republic after 9/11, if notRead More before. Know the difference.

Banning the sale in a free market economy is too strong. I believe people should be able to chooseRead More so long as the product is labeled correctly, and even placed in a section with a big sign that says "GM Food products". Would I buy it if I pass the section at the grocery store: NO.
