Silverscreen Video Got 'Chased' Out

Movies have moved, but not far down the way.

Movies Have Moved

Silverscreen Video got "Chased" out of their spot in Red Hill Shopping Center, but have no fear, all the movies made it into the new space where Citibank used to be and they are now next to the between and .

Rick and Debbie Lafranchi have owned Silverscreen and the chain of movie rental stores throughout Marin for years and we are so lucky that they are still around in San Anselmo. Netflix may work for many, but we gave up our membership after three wasted months and happily returned our business locally for the simple joy of wandering the aisles and seeing what strikes the mood.

Chase Bank is going into the space that Silverscreen Video occupied just last week and construction should be starting up soon.

The Lost Art Sewing School has opened up on Tamalpais Avenue and adult and children’s classes are happening now. Candace Roper is not only a gifted seamstress, but a gifted teacher who will guide your nimble or not so nimble hands to a completed masterpiece, or at the very least a pillow case or apron.

And this isn’t just for girls, boys are welcome too. In fact, I know of a certain young boy who is looking forward to learning more. Birthday parties, summer camp, and spring and summer sessions are available, but classes are filling up fast, so don’t miss out on this fabulous opportunity to learn for yourself or have your kids learn the lost art of sewing. Contact Candace for mor information at:  candice_roper@yahoo.com

Be Gone

The showroom is no longer.

Flea Market

In the market for fleas? Probably not, but is making the most of the space next door and spreading out more of its lovely wares for viewing. Stop by the space that once held (which is now in Fairfax!), and for a short time the mixed artists studio and gallery, to see what Studiolio has for the taking. Well, not the taking, but for the looking and buying.

A Funny Few

These little shops aren’t so very new, but folks drive down Sir Francis Drake Boulevard so quickly they might not know that there is a Sir Francis Drake Café and Mayra’s Hair Design studio in between and . Keep an eye out for the small little salmon-colored stucco buildings and if you get a chance grab a falafel or a trim at these darling little venues.
