New Ballet Studio and Secret Salvage Shop

They’ll be Dancing Soon

is swathed in pink and almost open for business. The soon to be sweet little ballet and dance studio located in the School Street Plaza in Fairfax has lovely flyers out front for those with little dancers raring to go this fall and the inside is getting the final touches of paint and looks just great. Can’t wait for the Grand Opening, which will be soon!

Sunday Salvage

While I was admiring Studio C’s progress I couldn’t help but ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ over the simply darling little shop next door that calls itself Sunday Salvage. Step down from the parking lot into a world of wonder and simpler times and surround yourself with the beautifully reclaimed tables, chairs, fabric, and country charm of yesteryear. I can’t believe I have never seen this place before, and I want to know more, but the great sign in the window notes that Monday is grocery day, Wednesday is laundry, Friday the owner has Gone Rockin’ and Sunday is Beach Day (sign above). I’ll be first in line tomorrow when they are open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Happy Swirl

The landscaping and hard-scaping in front of the end of is no longer fenced in and looking quite nice. A large brick patio with a short curved stone sitting wall allows for loads of yogurt-lovers to enjoy sweet bites while soaking up these Indian summer days. There was mention of a fire pit, but that is going in later -- as there were no signs of one as far as these eyes could see. A small crew was power washing the new sidewalk this morning and the funky stone statue that used to sit in front of has found a new landing spot in front of r for kids to climb on and folks to rest a while.

Exterior Update

The old huge signs at the entrance of Red Hill Shopping Center have been removed. I hope someone or some company was able to salvage those wonderfully large posts and reuse them on another project. I wonder what sort of signage will go up in their place? And I wonder what shops and businesses will go in to all of the empty stores. At last count, it looks like five spaces are vacant and, with the , the number jumps to six. That’s a lot, with a multi-million dollar renovation going on.
