Supercosmos, Anarchy and Sunny Days

An art opening with French artist, Jean-Marc Brugeilles at Elsewhere Gallery in Fairfax

A Dreamer's View

, 1828 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Fairfax welcomes artist Jean-Marc Brugeilles’ “Hypercosmos del Songes” (Supercosmos of Dreams) to their gallery and it is a true sight to see.  A piece of artwork for Brugeilles begins when he starts to build each frame, stretch the canvas, mix his own gypsum and grind pigments to create high quality paint for his exceptional paintings.  It can be dreams, moments of clarity, times of complete silence, memories and current moments that help build each painting.

After a lifetime in France, Brugeilles and his American wife have spent the past two years living in Corte Madera and Brugeilles has soaked up Marin and all its wonder.  His painting "Phoenix Lake," is dreamlike, a very unique interpretation that embodies all of the color and wonder it beholds.

Fences Down

is look much better for the fences that have finally come down around all of the construction.  Many final touches remain to be completed but the open feel of the place is nice to finally see.  Brick walkways and seating areas surround the front entry and the large outdoor space outside of is really quite nice.

Not quite sure why they repainted Safeway the blah-brown that they used alongside the lovely creamy whites and greens they used everywhere else, but the face lift has definitely made a big difference to the look and feel of the whole mall.  I certainly hope all of the changes make a difference to the businesses that have taken a beating in this recessionary market.

But, the sun is shining, the economy is recovering and with the holidays just around the corner it will hopefully be a bright and wonderful time of year for all at Red Hill Shopping Center.

There Might Be Anarchy

If , the soon-to-be bakery located at 101 San Anselmo Avenue, doesn’t open soon there just might be anarchy around town.  People need their carbs and they want them yesterday from the sounds of things around town.  With a great new orange and brown sign above the store and what looks like a full setup inside, it really shouldn’t be long now; have faith and patience.

A Sunny Day Note

My apologies, the lovely little shop I discovered and worte about last week in the Bank Street Center in Fairfax is called Sunny Day Salvage, not Sunday Salvage.  Regardless of the name it is a wonderful place to wander and wonder at all of the reclaimed country furnature, fabrics and so much more.
