Art Talk Tuesdays – Upcoming

Art Talk Tuesdays take place on the second Tuesday of the month, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers.  Upcoming talks include:

June 12th:  Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier
This exhibit, through August 19th at the de Young Museum, is a dynamic, multimedia exhibition that includes 140 haute couture and prêt-à-porter designs created between the mid-1970s and 2010.  It also includes numerous sketches, archival documents, fashion photographs, and video clips that spotlight Gaultier’s collaborations with filmmakers, choreographers, and musicians, most notably Madonna.

“For a thousand years, pilgrims have journeyed to Santiago de Compostela to venerate Saint James. Combining contemporary photos with objects from the Museums’ Medieval and Renaissance collections, this lecture traces the path of pilgrims over Roman bridges, past centuries-old churches, to experience the adventure, camaraderie, and serenity that typify the ‘way of the camino.’”

August 14th:  Sculpture in the Bay Area

Library Storytimes

Toddler Story time
Early contact with books can make lifelong readers. Toddler Story time at the San Anselmo Library is a fun and meaningful way to introduce your child to a wide range of high-quality picture books, songs, poetry, and nursery rhymes carefully selected to satisfy their developmental needs.

  • Monday at 10:00 am OR 10:45 am (TWO SESSIONS!) in the Town Council Chambers.
  • For toddlers ages 18 months to 3 years.

Preschool Story time
Our interactive preschool story time provides an opportunity for young children to spend time with their peers, develop skills in listening, sitting still, concentrating, and, most importantly, nourishes a love of reading that will last a lifetime. This 45 minute program includes stories, nursery rhymes, traditional songs, finger plays, and a mini craft. No registration required.

  • Fridays from 10:30 am-11:15 am in the Town Council Chamber.
  • For children ages 3-5 years old.

French Story time with Le Petit Jardin

Le Petit Jardin, a San Anselmo nursery school, offers this fun French Immersion story time to toddlers and young children. Each week children and parents or caregivers will enjoy songs and nursery rhymes as well as an illustrated picture book read by leader Anne de Souza.

  • Thursdays, 10:30 am in the Town Council Chamber.
  • For toddlers 18 months to 3 years old.

About the Storyteller: Anne De Souza comes to Le Petit Jardin from Saint Malo, France. After arriving in the U.S. as a young adult, she spent time as an au-pair and realized the French interaction she shared with her young charges led them to rapidly understand and communicate in her language. She is now the lead Mommy & Me instructor at the school.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the San Anselmo Library need gently used books to benefit the library and its programs.  They’d like books in good condition, except for encyclopedias.  Please drop them off at the library or, if you need help transporting books, call 455-9110.  The next book sale is Saturday, July 7.

Newsletter Hiatus

The Town Newsletter is going to take a two week hiatus beginning Friday, June 1, but will be back on Friday, June 15.
