Community Meeting

The and Watershed Program is holding a community meeting to update residents and merchants on the flood program. Join Supervisor Katie Rice and the Flood Control District staff for an update of where we’ve been, where we are and where we’re headed.

The community meeting will be held at Drake High School in the Student Union, 1327 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., on Saturday, May 5, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Copies of the First Annual Report on the Ross Valley Flood Protection and Watershed Program will be available at the meeting and online at http://marinwatersheds.org/index.html.  The agenda for the meeting can be found at http://marinwatersheds.org/documents/May5thAgenda.pdf.

The agenda includes a presentation on the program’s principles and goals, the Capital Improvement Plan study report, the 25 year flood protection plan (which includes detention basins, creek improvements, sedimentation management, the project process and costs and budget), and a question and answer time.  The agenda also includes a discussion of the annual report, ongoing efforts in the watershed and concludes with several break out sessions on the creek.

This will be a worthwhile and informative presentation on the progress made to date, and we encourage the public to attend.

Projects Underway

There are a number of projects currently under construction in San Anselmo.  Construction projects can often be disruptive and inconvenient to residents, drivers and pedestrians, but the Town tries very hard to minimize the disruption by requiring contractors to hand out notices to affected residents, to post appropriate signage regarding road closures, and to be considerate of residents trying to navigate through construction sites.

Both Marin Municipal Water District and the Ross Valley Sanitary District are current working on their pipelines in San Anselmo.  This work is being done now, instead of in the summer when school is out, because the Town has plans to pave a number of streets and construct a sidewalk project this summer.

The following projects are currently under construction or will be in the next few months by the various utilities or the Town (schedules are approximate):
