Country Fair Day Thanks, Elders' Garden Work Party, Council Meeting Date Changes

Country Fair Thanks, Elders' Garden Work Party, Slurry Seal Work, Meeting Changes.

Country Fair Day Thanks!               

was a tremendous success! As with any large event, it would not have happened without the assistance of many dedicated people. Many thanks to:

  • The Ross Valley Firefighters’ Club for serving hundreds of fairgoers delicious pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee, led by Sid Jamotte.
  • Carla Overberger and her parade crew of Tom Robinson and Peter Hoch for assembling an incredible list of parade participants and keeping them moving down the avenue.
  • Bob Lewis and Alan Cascio for announcing the parade.
  • Kay Coleman, Amy Brasler and Denise Young for organizing the booths, laying out the street and directing people to their assigned locations.
  • The and for organizing “tasting row” and providing a wonderful assortment of goodies to enjoy.
  • United Market, , and the Royal Order of the Oyster for keeping fairgoers well fed at Creek Park.
  • The Arts Commission for sponsoring the music in Creek Park that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
  • The Quality of Life Commission, Historical Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission and the Open Space Commission for participating in the day with booths.
  • staff for marching in the parade and participating with a booth, including Linda and April.
  • The San Anselmo Police Department for ensuring accessibility, dealing with parking and road closure issues and leading the parade down San Anselmo Avenue, among many other tasks -- thanks to everyone, including Jim, Nick, Todd, Rob, Ryan, Joel, Kalil, Tim and Rebecca. 
  • The Public Works staff for loading barricades, closing streets, and dealing with all the last minute problems that inevitably crop up. Thanks to Sean, Rick, Dave, A.J., Justin and Howard.
  • The staff of the Recreation Department who sold tickets, ran the jumpees, staffed the Creek Park venue, provided oversight on the games and just generally did what needed to be done. Many thanks to Andrea, Dana, Greg, Dawn and Sandy.
  • Town staff who generally did what needed to get done, including Jeannie and Joanne.
  • Community Services Director Dave Donery who masterminded the event from beginning to end and did a great job. 

To all who attended, staffed booths, walked in the parade, ate pancakes, jumped on the jumpees and just enjoyed a special community day, thank you and we’ll see you next year for even more fun!

Recreation Offices

The Recreation Offices, located at 1000 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., in the , will be closed to the public on Thursday, Oct. 13, for an employee work day. The offices will reopen on Monday, Oct. 17, as usual.

Elders’ Garden Work Party

The next Elders Garden work party will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, beginning at 9 a.m. in the garden, which is located near the Millennium Playground at .  All are welcome. The work party will be followed by a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Elders' Garden. Everyone who has contributed to the development of the garden in any way is invited to join us in the garden for a potluck lunch at noon.  

Town Council Meeting Date Changes

The dates of the regular Town Council meetings for November have been adjusted to accommodate Election Day, which is Nov. 8. For the month of November only, Town Council meetings will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15 and Tuesday, Nov. 29. We will return to our regular schedule of the second and fourth Tuesday of the month thereafter.

Slurry Seal Work

After a one-week rain delay,begins on Monday, Oct. 10. Staging for the project will be occurring in the parking lot. Therefore, the lot will be closed to the public from Oct. 9 to 14. There will still be access to the park and parking along the road.

Sir Francis Drake Boulevard from San Francisco Boulevard to the Fairfax border will receive a slurry seal treatment on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10 and 11. Work will be scheduled around the morning and afternoon commutes, but some delays are expected. Work is scheduled to be conducted on the two outside lanes on Monday, Oct. 10 and the two inside lanes on Tuesday, Oct. 11. While the road will remain open at all times, alternate routes are encouraged.

San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS)

has submitted an application to the town to consolidate all student, faculty, and staff housing onto the 21-acre campus and s. Prior to hearings by the Planning Commission and Town Council, the Seminary is providing a walking tour of the site for interested parties to hear more about the plan. The walking tour will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. and will last approximately one hour. Meet in front of Montgomery Chapel, which is located on the northwest corner of Bolinas Avenue and Richmond Road.
