Holiday Parking

The San Anselmo Police Department is pleased to announce that the town is providing free parking to holiday shoppers in San Anselmo. The free holiday shopping period began on Friday, Nov. 25 and will continue through Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. During this period the parking meters will not be operating. As always, however, the disabled, red zone and other safety related parking violations will be enforced.

The town began street sweeping services with a new company effective Thursday, Dec. 1. Check the new sweeping schedule online.

For December, when the leaves are still falling off the trees, residential streets will be swept twice during the month. Each commercial street will be swept once per week on Monday morning. Each residential street will be swept on the first and third scheduled day of the month. For example, if your day is Thursday, it would be swept on the first and third Thursday of December: Dec. 1 and 15. If your day is Monday, it would be swept on the first and third Monday of December: Dec. 5 and 19.

In general, the schedule for sweeping is as follows. Please check the schedule online for your specific residential street. The colors indicate the colors on the map.

Monday (red) - Commercial areas, plus the neighborhood around Faude Park. Tuesday (purple) - Downtown neighborhoods, Saunders/Madrone areas. Wednesday (green) - Barber, Sequoia and Los Angeles Blvd. neighborhoods. Thursday (pink) - Butterfield Road neighborhoods.
Friday (brown) - Oak Knoll Ave., Redwood Rd and Laurel Ave. neighborhoods.

For January, the schedule will change again, as most of the leaves will be off the trees. Sweeping in January through September will revert to once per month, on the first scheduled day of the month.

We do need your help with street sweeping, however. We get a lot of complaints about materials that are not picked up by the sweeper. Most of these complaints originate from the fact that cars are parked on the roadway and keep the sweeper from doing a good job. Now that we have a schedule that we can count on, please help the sweeper by keeping your street free of parked cars on your assigned sweeping day!
