Town Council Meeting Notes

At the meeting of Tuesday, June 11, the Town Council took the following actions:

·         Appointed Carol Acquaviva to the Historical Commission and Sharyne Blixt to the Library Tax Oversight Committee.  Congratulations Carol and Sharyne!

·         Reviewed the request of Marin Sanitary Service to change the way green waste is set out at the curb. Currently customers can utilize up to five 32-gallon personal cans for yard waste in addition to the one company-provided 64-gallon green cart.   The request is that customers utilize only company-provided 64-gallon green carts for green waste.  For customers that need more than one green cart, extra carts could be rented for a monthly fee of $1.78.  The extra carts could be rented on an annual or a monthly basis.  The personal cans filled with green waste have become an issue because of worker injuries due to extremely heavy cans that must be lifted manually. This item will be discussed again at the Town Council meeting of Tuesday, June 25, 2013, beginning at 7 p.m.  Marin Sanitary’s presentation on the request can be found on the Town’s website at http://www.townofsananselmo.org/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/3519.

·         Received a report from the Marin Municipal Water District on their Water Storage Improvement Project.  The presentation can be found on the Town’s website at http://www.townofsananselmo.org/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/3520.  Additional information is available at http://marinwater.org/controller?action=menuclick&id=669.

·         Introduced an ordinance providing for the appointment of an independent hearing officer to conduct and decide the appeal concerning 711 Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

·         Received a status report on the new downtown park, Imagination Park, regarding associated paving and drainage work; approved the request for a donation of $10,000 from the Town to the San Anselmo Community Foundation fundraising effort for the park; and agreed to park recognition signage on the wall of Town Hall facing the park.

·         Reviewed the proposal to hire a Senior Engineer in the Public Works Department and provided direction to staff to proceed with the position.
