Town Council Meeting Notes

              

At the meeting of Tuesday, March 11, the Town Council took the following actions:

  • Approved the Special Event Application for the annual San Anselmo Baseball Association (SABA) opening day parade, to be held on Sunday, March 16, at 8:30 a.m. beginning at the Chapel of the Hills and progressing to Memorial Park.
  • Approved a budget adjustment in the Recreation Fund to upgrade Recreation Department computers and install a wireless network in the Recreation facility.
  • Authorized the Mayor to send a letter to FEMA approving participation in the FEMA Community Rating System (CRS).
  • Appointed Councilmembers Greene and Wright to serve on a subcommittee to work with Marin Sanitary regarding the issue of green waste pickup.
  • Approved a resolution re-establishing the Capital Program Monitoring Committee to include oversight of the expenditure of funds received through the successful Measure D one-half cent sales tax.
  • Received an update report on the status of the plastic bag ban ordinance under consideration by Marin cities and towns.  Council directed staff to pursue an ordinance similar to San Rafael and Novato, that would include a charge for recycled paper carryout bags to 10 cents, applicable only to supermarkets, pharmacies and convenience/liquor stores.

Capital Program Monitoring Committee

The Town Council is looking for volunteers to serve on the Capital Program Monitoring Committee.  The purpose of the committee is to monitor the implementation of the Town’s capital improvement program, funded by the voter-approved Measure D one-half cent sales tax funds, as well as grant funding, Road Maintenance Fund monies, and General Fund monies.

 

The committee’s charge is to issue an annual public report summarizing the progress of capital improvement projects funded by Measure D, as well as capital improvement projects funded by other sources of Town funding.

 

The committee will consist of (7) members, representing a wide variety of the community, with a range of skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas:

•                    Finance (preferably public finance)

•                    Engineering and/or construction

•                    Public relations and communication

•                    Familiarity with various aspects of the San Anselmo Community

Two Councilmembers and two designated Town staff liaisons will serve in an advisory capacity only.  The Councilmembers on the committee are John Wright and Tom McInerney, and the designated staff members are the Town Manager and the Public Works Director.  The Committee will meet once in the early spring to review planned capital improvement projects and once in late fall to review completed projects.

How do I get a copy of a police or traffic accident report?

Please call the Records Section at 415-927-5150 to confirm the report is available. Reports are usually ready for pick up in about 7-10 business days. Report cost: $10.00, Log Entry cost: $3.00.  Certain offense reports may not be released if the case is active or under investigation. No juvenile information will be released.

 

I will be out of town for a week. Will the police watch my home?

Yes. This is what we call a "Vacation Watch." Please call, 415-927-5150 to request a Vacation Watch. Please have trip dates and emergency contact numbers available when you call.  We may ask additional questions about the vacancy of your home.

 

When does the police department do public fingerprinting?

We do not do public fingerprinting. You may contact the Marin County Sheriff's Office at 415-479-2311.  

 

How can I check on the status of my criminal investigation?

Contact the specific investigative unit at 415-927-5150 or the Marin County District Attorney's Office at 415-499-6450.

 

How do I find out if someone has been arrested?

Please call CMPA Dispatch at 415-927-5150.   

 

How do I get my car out of impound?

First, you will need to provide us with the vehicle license plate number or the vehicle identification number. If you are the owner, you must have a valid California Driver license. If the vehicle is currently registered, you need to call the Traffic Unit at 415-927-5150 for a Tow Hearing. You will be responsible for towing and storage fees to the tow company. You may also be responsible for administrative fees to CMPA. There are vehicle codes and municipal codes that allow CMPA to charge up to $314.00. If your vehicle was impounded for driving without a license and has been previously towed for the same violation, it may be held up to 30 days. You will have to contact the Traffic Unit at 415-927-5150. You will have to contact the Records Section to obtain a release at 415-927-5150.

 

How do I get a police employee to speak to my group?

You can call the Watch Commander at 415-927-5150.
