Town Council Meeting Notes, Volunteer Receptionists, Country Fair Day and Picnics on the Plaza

Town Council Meeting Notes

At the meeting of Tuesday, September 10, the Town Council took the following actions:

  • Approved contract with the Marin County Flood Control District to provide for creek vegetation removal reimbursement for the period 2013-2018.
  • Approved the resolution authorizing the conveyance of abandoned street right-of-way adjacent to 39 Madera.
  • Approved the resolution providing for the borrowing of funds from the County of Marin in order to ensure adequate cash flow prior to the property tax distribution scheduled for December 13, 2013.
  • Reviewed plans for medians on Bolinas Avenue to reduce vehicular speeds in conjunction with the Safe Paths to Schools project, jointly undertaken by the Towns of San Anselmo and Ross.  The Council heard public comment from neighbors expressing support for the project as well as neighbors’ concerns regarding reduction in parking spaces, egress from driveways, emergency vehicle access, access during localized flooding events and bicycle safety.  The Town Council supported the medians, directing staff to work with the neighbors who have personal concerns with access and parking to tweak the medians to minimize impact.
  • Heard the appeal of Ken Mayer, 19 Knoll Road, regarding the expiration of his building permit.  The Town Council denied the appeal and directed staff to work with the applicant on getting the permit activated and construction underway by April 30, 2014.
  • Authorized a funding agreement between the Marin County Flood Control District and the Town for the reimbursement of costs to be incurred to apply to the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant program for possible acquisition and retrofitting/removal of a building bridge.

Picnics on the Plaza

This year’s Picnics on the Plaza events are all behind us, but we want to thank everyone who participated to make the Picnics events an enormous success this summer.

Many, many thanks to our 2013 sponsors of the Picnics on the Plaza, including the San Anselmo Chamber of Commerce, Pacific Sun, Eric Gelman of Melissa Bradley, Ross Valley Rotary, the San Anselmo Arts Commission and the San Anselmo Parks & Recreation Commission.

If you missed Picnics this summer, be sure to mark your calendars for next year.  They’ll be held Friday nights in August and early September.
