I think it is time to take a serious look at the situation for young people in our community. The blotter reports include, a 14 year old with alcohol poisoning, other kids drinking and egging cars, a middle school student with suicidal idolation. There is a desperate need for places for young people to gather safely and do things they enjoy. We have upteen bars/restaurants... but what is there for kids? A recent high school grad really brought this to my attention the other day. He suggested that a skate park would be one thing that kids would use and need. I agree, and I think that a lot more is needed. We know that we have the dubious distinction of having one of the highest teen drinking rates....what are we going to do about it? Our children deserve more.

+1 for the skate park idea if we can find a suitable location (for me, suitable means out in the open where everyone can see and monitor what's happening there. Dark and isolated places are breeding grounds for vice..

Fairfax is a joke of a community. There are weird politics going on behind the scenes that fosters and encourages the bars. $5,000.00 DUI anyone? and the mayor was involved in the local pot club. The truth is stranger than fiction... I know too much. Owned a business and lived in fairfax for years. Won't step foot in that town now for fear of the police/gestapo.

Numerous bars. Two headshops. Political pot club. Local kids get put into the system as a right of passage. Welcome to the machine!!!!
