Get Out: Patch's Weekend Planner for April 22-24

Are you looking for something nearby to do this for this Earth Day weekend? Check out some of the cool things on the San Anselmo-Fairfax Patch calendar and see if there's something for you.

Friday:

Join the on Earth Day, Friday, for a bike ride to celebrate the . Charles was an environmentalist and an avid bicyclist. The group will meet on Friday, on the lawn in front of the post office on North San Pedro Road near the Civic Center and head south on Bicycle Route 5, making stops along the way to discuss McGlashan's work on SMART, the , and the Alto Tunnel. The ride will end at Wilderness Travel Bike in Mill Valley at 475 Miller Avenue for refreshments and reflections. Please wear helmets for the ride.

Saturday:

Traipse through the meadows and forests in celebration of this Earth Day with (MMWD) Vegetation Ecologist Andrea Williams, who will help us look for harlequin lotus, native onions, more types of sanicle than you ever knew existed, blue-eyed grass, and potentially the last of the blooming calypso orchids. En route the group will remove invasive bull thistle where it competes with our rare native Mt. Tamalpais thistle.

If you go: The hike will meet at 9 a.m. at Rock Spring parking lot at the intersection of Ridgecrest Boulevard and Pantoll Road. We will be hiking to Potrero Meadow, Laurel Dell, along Cataract Creek and back. This is a 3.5-mile round trip hike.

Saturday:

Come celebrate Earth Day and reaffirm your commitment to the planet with one of the hottest, greenest and most inspiring indie performers gracing stages today! DiMicele is not only a stellar musician, but also a true activist known for eco-anthems Defend the Earth, In a World, and Chinook Blues. Di Micele has shared the stage with folks like Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, Janis Ian, David Grisman, Steve Winwood, Michael Franti, and many more. She turns heads everywhere with her percussive guitar style and compelling voice and blows minds with her trio of outstanding players!

If you go: The show will be at San Geronimo Valley Community Center, 6350 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in San Geronimo and begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
