Rain in the Bay Area...in June??

We are in June, right? So where is the sun and that nice warm weather we normally have as school lets out for the summer?

Weather forecasters are calling for rain and possible thounderstorms from Friday afternoon clear through Monday for San Anselmo and Fairfax and much of the entire North Bay region.

According to the National Weather Service, an unseasonably strong storm will Northern California by Friday afternoon with light rain over the North Bay and San Francisco Bay Area. Rain will then spread south later tonight and may become heavy by late Friday night. Periods of rain, possibly heavy at times, will continue into Saturday as the storm moves onshore. Steady rain should taper to showers by Saturday evening. However, the main block of low pressure will move inland Sunday with renewed shower and thunderstorm changes. Projections suggest as much as two to four inches of rain for the hills of the North Bay by Monday. Localized flooding is expected Sunday and into Monday. 

You can track the level of the creek on the Ross Valley Fire Department's website. If rains turn heavy, both San Anselmo and Fairfax will likely have sandbags available at Memorial Park and the Pavilion, respectively.

The potential for heavy rains has already caused a disruption in some weekend events -- post in the comments if you know of an event being cancelled due to weather.
