In conjunction with the opening of the new Pet Food Express in the Red Hill shopping center in San Anselmo, the Bay Area pet supply chain is holding a two-day fundraiser for the Marin Humane Society’s Side-by-Side program, which helps “228 low-income seniors and others in need with pet food deliveries, transportation to the veterinarian, dog walking, pet grooming, litter box maintenance and emergency boarding of pets in the event of a client’s hospitalization,” according to the organization.

The fundraiser, set for Feb. 23-24, will donate 10 percent of all sales at Pet Food Express’ five stores in Marin – Hamilton, Mill Valley, Novato, San Anselmo and Terra Linda – to Side-by-Side.

“It’s a great cause,” Pet Food Express CEO Michael Levy said.

How lovely and a good cause, however, please folks, do consider the fact that Red Hill Pet Center, which is truly local (and now in San Rafael near Dharma Trading on 4th st,) was pushed out by a horrendous remodel, and "mall" owners apparently more interested in "profits," than in real community, and taking care of existing long term businesses. I hear the Pet Food Express chain, was signed onto the space, before Red Hill Pet Center left? Can anyone speak to all this, or do past actions not matter?
I "vote" with my shopping $, the kind of world I choose to be a part of, and will give as little as possible to either P.F.E. or any chain taking the place of a once local business which has been forced out by management decisions which to me are less than community minded. Shame on them. Do we really want to reward this model or have more of it?

I went to the Smashburger in Novato & have to say that it was a disappointing experience. TheRead More burger was very mediocore & the onion rings were awful-very greasy. The staff were not friendly & operated with a "Bambi in the headlights" look about them. I do wish Smasburger luck in their locations. However, from my perspective there is a good deal of work that still needs to be done with the food, staff & service. At this time, "In & Out" Burger is a "hand's down favorite...thanks

Sheryl, I would put up our food and our service against any In & Out, anytime, any place. I'llRead More put my burger where my mouth is (literally) and offer you some free vouchers to be at our opening in Mill Valley. Send me an email (jasonwkent@gmail.com) with your mailing address and I'll get those vouchers to you ASAP.
