Frog Docent Training Saturday, February 22, 2012, 9 AM to 2 PM
Docents
monitor habitat conditions for and educate hikers about native foothill
yellow-legged frogs. The required training begins at the Sky
Oaks Headquarters in Fairfax with a discussion of frog biology and population
threats, radio training and methods for engaging the public. At noon we take a
3 mile round-trip hike to Little Carson Falls. The minimum commitment is
three 5 hour shifts between March and June, when the frog eggs and tadpoles are
at their most vulnerable. Docents must be at least 18 years old. Rain will not
cancel. Please RSVP.
Please wear close-toed shoes and long pants, dress for variable weather
and bring a reusable water bottle. We provide breakfast snacks, water, tools
and inspiration. Rain
cancellation and fire closure information can be found by calling after 7:30
a.m. on the day of the event.
