Hands-on Cooking Demonstration!

DirectionFive is at the Marin Country Mart Farmers' Market on Saturday, May 3rd, from 10:30-11:30 am. Kids and parents will enjoy a cooking demonstration and tasting with hands-on participation (appropriate for children of all ages).

The teachers at DirectionFive (D5) know that kids will eat almost anything, including raw vegetables, fruit and nuts, if they are involved in chopping, mashing, measuring, mixing, and pouring. On May 3rd they'll be making Spring Green Hummus with Carrots and Snap Peas! D5, a California-based non-profit organization, works with kids of all ages to offer a new model for health education, by teaching kids practical skills and inspiring them to lead happy, healthy, and productive lives- starting in the kitchen! D5 was founded on the principle that if kids are part of the process they will be part of the solution.
The demonstrations and tastings will take place under the big farmers’ market tent. There will be two 30 minute teaching sessions, the first from 10:30-11:00 am and the second session will be just after the first, from 11:00-11:30am.
