Kids Love to Cook! Hands-on Cooking Demonstration

Kid's Love to Cook! Hands On Cooking Demonstration at the Marin Country Mart Farmers' Market   10:30am - 11:30am

DirectionFive is back at the Marin Country Mart Farmers' Market on Saturday, June 21st, from 10:30-11:30 am. Kids and parents will learn how to make a local and organic fruit salad with cashew whipped cream! This demonstration is hands-on participation and includes tasting (appropriate for children of all ages).

Kids will eat almost anything, including raw vegetables, fruit and nuts, if they are involved in chopping, mashing, measuring, mixing, and pouring. DirectionFive (D5), a California-based non-profit organization, works with schools to offer a new model for health education by giving kids the tools they need to make healthy choices. Addressing the health problems that are afflicting today’s culture is a daunting task, but D5’s programs address this problem head-on by teaching kids practical skills and inspiring them to lead happy, healthy, and productive lives- starting in the kitchen!  The demonstrations and tastings will take place under the big farmers’ market tent. There will be two 30 minute teaching sessions, the first from 10:30-11:00 am and the second session will be just after the first, from 11:00-11:30am.
