Steven Caras: See Them Dance

Please join us for an evening with Steven Caras featuring a screening of the Emmy Award-winning documentary "See Them Dance," which profiles Caras' personal journey of challenges and triumphs in the world of ballet at a time when men pursuing dance rarely escaped unscathed. In spite of bullying at school and rejection at home, after just three years of training, his perseverance paid off. At eighteen, Caras was personally invited to join New York City Ballet by its founder, George Balanchine* who became his mentor - first as a dancer and later as a photographer leading to Caras' luminous second career as one of today's most revered dance photographers.
