Sustainable Fairfax: Chasing Ice & More

Still contemplating weekend plans? Sustainable Fairfax is hosting two events you should check out.

First, this evening, don’t miss our screening of the captivating film, Chasing Ice, winner of the best cinematography at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. This film is part of the Sustainable Fairfax Environmental Film Series shown at the Fairfax Women’s Club, in partnership with the Town of Fairfax.

I saw this film last year, and was moved by the powerful images and videos captured by National Geographic photographer James Balog. His efforts to gather the visual evidence of our changing plane are simply awe inspiring.

Dr. Peter Joseph of the Climate Reality Project and Citizens Climate Lobby will provide his insight after the film and lead a short discussion.

The doors will open at 6:30pm and the movie starts at 7:00pm. We suggest a donation of $5-$15 to support the important work of Sustainable Fairfax.

On Saturday, we are throwing a Garden Party near the Fairfax Women’s Club building (the weather is forecasted to be sunny and warm!). This is an opportunity for Sustainable Fairfax members and non-members to enjoy a relaxing evening with refreshments and music in the new garden.  Learn about our current projects from Sustainable Fairfax board members and bring your own ideas as well. The party is 3:00-6:00pm and is free of charge.

Looking ahead to next weekend, get on your bike (or borrow one) and join us for Tour de Cluck & Coop on Saturday, May 25 at 9:30am. We will take you on a tour of backyard Chicken Coops in San Anselmo and Fairfax and will teach you kitchen table wisdom and flock care.

For more information about these events, please visit www.sustainablefairfax.org.  We look forward to meeting you!

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
