TAKE BACK DAY FOR FAIRFAX (Medication disposal, E-Waste Recycling & Paper Shredding)

Don't miss Fairfax's second annual Take Back Day this Saturday, April 26 at the Fairfax Pavilion parking lot (near Elsie Lane)!  Sustainable Fairfax, Marin Sanitary Service and the Town of Fairfax are working together to keep valuable resources out of the landfill.  

The Fairfax police will be collecting prescription drugs and medications as part of the the Drug Enforcement Agency's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, and Marin Sanitary Service will be providing e-waste recycling and paper shredding.  And Fairfax residents can pick up free compost!

FAIRFAX PAVILION PARKING LOT (near Elsie Lane):

10am – 2pm: DRUG TAKE BACK

10am - 4pm: E-WASTE RECYCLING & DOCUMENT SHREDDING

BENNETT HOUSE (53 Taylor Drive):

12pm – 1pm: DRUG TAKE BACK 

*GUIDELINES*

ELECTRONICS WASTE:

Items that have a circuit board inside, such as microwaves,computers, iPads, cell phones,printers, TVs, remotes, etc.

DOCUMENT SHREDDING:

We will shred your sensitive documents. No plastic, folders, or binders.  Paperclips and staples are OK.

DRUG DISPOSAL:

1) This program is anonymous, and does not require anyone to identify themselves or show identification.  Participants are encouraged to remove any identifying information from the prescription label.    

2) Participants may dispose of the medication in its original container, or may remove the solid dosage medications from the container and dispose of them directly into the disposal box.

3) All solid dosage pharmaceutical product and liquids in consumer containers will be accepted.  Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The depositor should ensure that the cap is tightly sealed to prevent leakage.

4)  Intra-venous solutions, injectibles, and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.

5)  Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in collection containers.
