Poetry and Prose @ THE MINE for November

MINE gallery in Fairfax continues with its poetry and prose reading series. This month, on Sunday, November 24th, at 3pm, Barbara Swift Brauer will be reading poetry from her new book At Ease in the Borrowed World (Sixteen Rivers Press, 2013) and a selection of newer poetry. Kaitlyn Gallagher will be reading prose from her new work, 181.


Barbara Swift Brauer’s work has appeared in such journals as Nimrod, West Marin Review, The MacGuffin, Spillway, California Quarterly, and Banabe Mountain Review, as well as anthologies. With portrait artist Jackie Kirk, Barbara is coauthor of the nonfiction book Witness: The Artist’s Vision in The Face of AIDS (Pomegranate Artbooks, 1996). Her full-length poetry collection, At Ease in the Borrowed World, was published by Sixteen Rivers Press in April. She lives in San Geronimo, where she and husband Laurence Brauer operate Wordsworth.

Kaitlyn Gallagher attended San Francisco State University and College of Marin before finishing her Bachelor's Degree in Writing and Literature at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. In 1994, she was accepted as a Master's Candidate in the Naropa University Masters of Fine Arts program, and she completed her MFA in Writing and Poetics in 1996. The same year, her first collection of short stories Point Me in the Right Direction was published, and went into three printings. Her poetry, stories and essays have been published in small press publications since 1994. She is a six-time recipient of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society's Teacher Appreciation Award.
