Breaking the Law and Baking the Bread

Music concerts, missing chicken, book sales, bake-offs and leaf Blower.

Breaking the Law

I am listening to a leaf blower blowing at the moment and it got me to wondering about what the town's ordinance on leaf blowers. I know there is one, and it was easy to find on San Anselmo's website. Unfortunately, I also learned that I broke that ordinance last week when I blew off our driveway and yard on Wednesday, because leaf blowers are only allowed on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and only for 30 minutes. So I guess the neighbor who was blowing off their yard on Thanksgiving Day was still OK.

will be holding two great events this week to show off and share the incredible talents of their musical students.  Tomorrow, Wednesday, from 7 to 10 p.m. you can listen to the Drake High School Guitar Class Performance by students in the Little Theater and Thursday the Drake High Jazz Combo and Jazz Band will perform in the Drake Theater. Both events are open to the public and free to all. You never know, the next Winton Marsalis or Eric Clapton may be in our midst and you could say you saw them way back when.

My About Town today is a little close to home with my third grader not feeling, as my mother would so perfectly put it, one hundred percent. She is reading in bed and will probably nap on and off and just chill out. I want to be a third grader home sick today, too! Thankfully, I made a big batch of chicken soup yesterday, that should help what ever ails her and keep me warm on this chilly, chilly day.

Lost Chicken

Speaking of chickens, I can't find our sixth chicken in our backyard. Not sure what happened, but Mother Hen -- I call her that because she is the one that likes to keep the eggs warm -- is nowhere to be seen and when I went to collect the eggs they were cold. Ugh. Not sure what to do, not sure what happened, wishing for a surveillance camera just so we could find out for sure. Trust me, she did not end up in the soup!

Lemon Bread Out of Lemons

Since I am 'stuck' at home I think I will make a batch or two of Lemon Bread for the on Thursday. Be sure to RSVP to the luncheon given by the and Patch, which will be held at the Seminary this Thursday at noon. There will be lots of treats to taste and folks to meet and kick off the season. And the Mayor will be judging the baked goods, which is sure to be fun and yummy.

Wish Lists

I know what I want for Christmas: used books from the San Anselmo Library Book Sale this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  It will be on the lawn outside of town hall if the weather is nice, which it isn't supposed to be, so you'll probably want to look inside in the council chambers for great gift ideas or just presents for yourself!
